Inspired by the elegance, culture & refinement of bon dance and history, action & high energy of Ninjas, the essence of Bondance International Film Festival exemplifies the backbone of Japanese culture. Located at Hizenyumekaidou Ninja village, in Saga Japan, this festival is made possible by the community of Saga.
We showcase film categories such as Family friendly, Ninja, Drama and many more. We also have many lectures and film making workshops. Our films and guests are from Japan and abroad. All films shown will be subtitled in Japanese, English, or both.

As the viewer follows a joyful trip to the beach by a family with three young children, innocence and happiness give way to the unthinkable. While the day unfolds on-screen, the audience comes to realize, through subtle audiovisual cues, that a tragedy has occurred: one of the three children has drowned. Decisions are made in a state of shock, and the blurred lines between the rational and irrational interrupt and fragment the journey back home. Six-year-old Joey wants to be a doctor when he grows up, but his parents explain that he has to be a soldier instead, and kill people. When Joey protests this dark future, they explain that we only kill people in other countries, and only the ones wearing uniforms. "What if they take the uniforms off?" Joey asks. Confused as to why he should grow up to kill people, Joey keeps asking more questions, as his parents doggedly explain the "logic" of war. When his father admits that it's very sad that so many innocent civilians also get killed, Joey asks, "So, it's *not* okay?" But his mother cheerily explains, "Of course it's okay--as long as we're *trying* to kill the ones with the uniforms. Will Joey's innocence prevail? Or will his parents' indoctrination finally wear him down?

An Army officer arrives at Mrs. Cavanaugh's door to inform her that a new algorithm predicts that her son Eddie will die in battle. Not “did” die, but “will” die. Since Eddie just enlisted yesterday, she feels this is hardly fair. The officer reminds her that the possibility of death was mentioned in the recruitment contract: “Page 12, in the fine print, at the bottom.” Mrs. Cavanaugh persists until she finds out Eddie will die a hero. “Will he be getting any medals? We can put them with his football trophies!” And then it just gets weird. By the way, there really is such a thing as a “death gratuity” when a loved one dies in battle, and yes, it really is $100,000. This is a comedy. (No, really.)
